Launch Michigan statement on Gov. Whitmer’s signing of FY25 education budget
LANSING, Mich. – Venessa Keesler, president and CEO of Launch Michigan, a cross-partisan, nonprofit organization that includes education, business, labor and philanthropic leaders working together to reimagine Michigan’s system of public education to prepare every child for success after high school, released the following statement in response to Gov. Whitmer signing the education budget for fiscal year 2025:
“Launch Michigan applauds Governor Whitmer’s signing of the $23.4 billion education spending plan for the upcoming fiscal year, which includes support for several Launch Michigan priorities: ongoing funding for out-of-school time (part of the Launch Michigan Framework), continued investments in equity payments and the MI Future Educator Fellowship program, and funding for the Michigan Education Research Institute, a key investment to generate data-driven evidence to improve our system.
"Michigan has an opportunity to build on this budget and focus on defining the K-12 Michigan Education Guarantee — the promise that all its students will graduate with the future-ready skills and competencies they need to succeed and work in life. Launch Michigan looks forward to working with educators, parents, students, the governor, and the Legislature on this important effort."
