Our Framework for Transformation
For Michigan to be successful in the coming decades, where opportunity and prosperity are widely shared, and to ensure businesses find the talent they need to grow, we must reinvent our education system.
In 2018, Launch Michigan brought together leaders from business, education, labor and philanthropy to take on one of the most difficult questions for our future:
How do we best prepare our children for success?
Launch Michigan Framework Pillars
The first phase of our work resulted in the creation of the Launch Michigan Framework: a roadmap for reinventing our system. The Framework includes three key pillars:
Reinvention
Ensure every Michigan child is well-prepared to be successful in college, career, citizenship and life.
The secure foundation of our reimagined public education system is simple. If the end result of the schooling process in Michigan is a diploma, then we need to think about what that credential represents to students, employers, and institutions of higher education.
Responsibility
A realigned and redefined system of governance and accountability.
We want to build a new system that puts children first, with every single individual, organization and agency taking responsibility for their support of children. It will take everyone working together and reinforcing each other’s efforts to change policy and practice in service of students.
Resources
Increased investment in public education.
Michigan must adopt and adequately support a new funding system that provides a strong foundation for all and focuses on providing equitable resources to students with the greatest needs, including those in poverty and enrolled in special education.
